Are we alone? Searching for E.T.
I explore the cosmos to find technosignatures. My main research focus is SETI—analyzing raw radio telescope data to answer one of humanity's oldest questions: Are we alone?
Research
Narrowband Radio Technosignature Search
Traditional SETI focusing on searching engineered narrowband radio signals.
Strategic SETI
One major challenge in SETI is that we don't know when or where to look. Seto (2025) proposed a strategy to narrow down both the timing and direction of a potential signal using extragalactic events as shared reference points. I'm currently searching for such signals as optical pulses associated with recent GRBs, using TESS photometric data.
Submillimetre SETI
SETI has traditionally focused on lower radio frequencies such as the hydrogen line. Thanks to recent technological advances, we can now search for technosignatures at submillimetre wavelengths — a completely unexplored part of the spectrum. I'm currently searching for signals in archival JCMT/SCUBA-2 data.
Pipeline Development
Accurately counting galaxy cluster members is a key challenge in cosmology. To remove foreground and background contamination, I'm contributing to the development of a pipeline that corrects for projection effects in LSST imaging data.
